You Inspire ESBE - Szymon Czaban

A treasure trove of practical knowledge can be found on Szymon's YouTube channel, where he demystifies the complexities of modern heating systems. But what's the most challenging aspect of working with renewable heat sources?
-    Everything in renewables is a challenge. Paperwork in the UK and so called MCS
(Micro Generation Scheme) is just ridiculous. It is soul destroying.”

Responding to Szymon's concerns, Darren Myers, ESBE Ltd Manager, suggests a different perspective:
-    Renewables can be challenging; you need to get your head around the MCS accreditation as the industry is still emerging this process will become easier.
When talking to Szymon, he believes the UK heat pump sector suffers from a critical absence of informed manufacturers. He finds that dealing with sales-focused branches results in inadequate support when problems occur, forcing installers to depend on their own collective experience. Adding to this, Szymon points out the current lack of dependable heat pump technology in the UK, where many products still have significant flaws in this relatively early stage of adoption.
Providing a counterpoint to Szymon's analysis, Darren offers the thought:
-    The manufacturers of heat pumps are catching up with main land Europe with confidence of the product, projects aren’t the same as the likes of Sweden due to heat losses of buildings and the market is still very young, give it a few years and I believe the knowledge will be like fitting traditional system.

Guidance for aspiring installers

For those new to the field and eager to install heat pumps and other renewable technologies, a key question is how best to prepare. Szymon emphasizes the value of learning from experienced colleagues, stating:
-    Find an experienced installer that can guide you through the process. Find a network of people involved in the industry and make friends with them. In this game you will need a lot of help of more experienced installers to survive.

ESBE wants to contribute to Heat Pump Growth in the UK

ESBE recognise Szymon’s points about the critical factors for efficient heat pump installations. Today we provide installers with reliable valves, actuators, thermostats and controllers for accurate control and distribution, and we are making headway in the UK through our newly established subsidiary ESBE Ltd. As we look ahead, we are of course actively seeking partnerships with heat pump manufacturers and suppliers to jointly drive the growth and reliability of this important technology in the UK. Proper education for heat pump installations is highly needed to learn how to choose the right products and dimension the system in correct way. Think of this initial training as a crucial starting point on your journey to becoming a skilled installer.

When it comes to ensuring a heat pump system works properly and efficiently, is there one key thing to consider?

-    With heat pumps the margin of error is small so all small parts have to be within the margin of error. You need to get the heat loss right, size the unit right, size the paperwork right, size the emitters right, correctly commission and set the system up.

Finding Freedom and Passion in His Own Way

For Szimon, the best part about his professional life boils down to one key element: autonomy.
Being his own boss, setting his own terms, and maintaining control over his work provides a profound sense of liberation that he deeply values. The thought of working under someone else simply doesn't resonate with his independent spirit.
His journey into content creation began five years ago with his YouTube channel, driven purely by his love for photography and cameras.
-    I just love playing with cameras, lenses, lighting, etc., he explains. I did not start the channel for marketing reasons or to become an influencer. I would still do it even if there was no one watching.

We at ESBE find Szymon inspiring, but who inspires him?

-    Ohh - thank you, he responds. I am inspired by a host of amazing installers I have met along the way (Damon Blakemore, Liam Barry to name some of them). People who have material impact on the industry such as Adam Chapman or Kimbo Betty. I like good story tellers such as Casey Neistand or his brother Van. Those guys are incredible.

To wrap things up, Szymon, there's one more thing we're really curious about: do you happen to use ESBE products?

-    We definitely use ESBE products. In fact, the ARA series is our go-to for mixing and larger heat pump installations, and we also rely on the MBA series diverter valves.
Szymon Czaban's dedication to accessible knowledge-sharing and his passion for efficient heating solutions make him a true inspiration in the industry. His insights into the challenges and opportunities within the UK heat pump sector are invaluable. Thank you, Szymon, for sharing your expertise and inspiring us all towards a more sustainable future for home heating.
