Johan August Skogsfors was born in 1880. He was a farmer’s son with no plans to take over the parents’ farm. Entrepreneurship characterized his entire person.
In 1906, Johan August founded the company Skogsfors Bruk, a company name that was eventually shortened to ESBE (S and B).
Johan August was a man with visions. Today, he would certainly have been referred to as a super-entrepreneur. He was a well-traveled man who visited distant countries such as the United States and Russia. To manage business outside Sweden’s borders, he learned German and English on his own.
His pioneering life lives on with us at ESBE to a very high degree. The fourth generation Skogsfors runs ESBE together with the employees at the head office, which is still where everything started over 110 years ago. In the small village Reftele.
