WHAT GOES ON AT THE ESBE TEST CENTER?

2024-11-12

What happens behind the scenes at the ESBE Test Center? Join us as we delve into the heart of ESBE's Technology Center where a team of passionate engineers push the boundaries of what's possible. We met with Caroline Wilhelmsson,, team leader for test engineers, who gave us an insight into the lab's exciting work

Being part of the journey from idea to finished product is a path filled with both challenges and excitement. As part of ESBE's development team, Caroline Wilhelmsson and her colleagues ensure that the company's products meet customer expectations and maintain the highest quality.

-    By combining my previous experiences, both as a store manager and most recently as an HVAC engineer, with my current role as Team Leader, I feel like I've stepped into an exciting position at the ESBE test center. My task is to prioritize our projects and ensure  that our group is doing what we're supposed to do. Those of us who have been here for a while share our knowledge of both routines, products, and test equipment, says Caroline.

Teamwork

Every day at work is a new challenge. ESBE's products are tested in a multitude of ways. A day can include everything from practical work in the workshop with the test equipment to more theoretical tasks such as analyzing data and writing reports. This is a real "future laboratory" where, together with the product development department, we utilize the knowledge and technology that exists, but also find new innovative ways to test the products of the future.

-    Right now, we're building advanced and even more complex test rigs. Being part of a tight-knit team that is constantly developing and collaborating to achieve common goals is both stimulating and fun, says Patrick Hjelm, test engineer at ESBE.

-    We have external contractors who help us build the rigs, plumbers and electricians. They probably think it's as exciting as we do," adds Tamara Bregman, test assistant at ESBE.

A day at ESBE's test center – from idea to reality

ESBE's test center is a world-class testing environment. To be able to offer customers the best possible products, investments are made in advanced testing equipment. ESBE's test rigs are continuously developed and maintained to ensure that they can be used to test both today's and tomorrow's products.
-    I find it exciting to be part of the journey through the entire product development process. From hearing the developers' early thoughts about how the product should function, through testing at various stages of development, to when the finished product is ready, says Caroline.

Right now

Right now, there is a lot of work being done on many existing products in ESBE's wide range. For example, extensive tests have been carried out to ensure that ESBE actuators and linear actuators can be used safely in applications with flammable refrigerants, A3.

A workplace with heart and brain

But it's not just efficiency that's the focus at ESBE. This is a workplace where both products and employees get to grow. Internal training and external courses are conducted so that the staff at ESBE's test center are always up-to-date with knowledge and trends in the industry. At ESBE's test center, there's a great sense of community and a really nice atmosphere. A lot of testing is done with water, so you never know what might happen – extra clothes at work are a must, just in case something goes wrong πŸ€£πŸ˜‡πŸ’¦. But what happens at the ESBE test center, stays at the ESBE test center!
-    Even though we are a large company, there is a family feeling that I appreciate. It's really great that activities are organized outside of working hours, such as joint training and fun parties, says Caroline, who feels that ESBE in many ways really cares about its employees.

In addition to the fun, there is a strong focus on sustainability.

From a sustainability perspective, the department has implemented the 5S method to optimize the use of resources and minimize waste. For example, by having the right tools in the right place, valuable working time is used more efficiently. You sort and remove unnecessary things, get more space and increase efficiency in the department.
-    It means that we work to keep track of what we actually use and try not to waste. It becomes sustainable both from an environmental perspective and from a work environment perspective for us when we work, says Caroline.

Future Visions

When we ask Caroline about her vision for the future, she tells us that she hopes to remain in her role at ESBE, with a fully equipped Test Center and many driven colleagues to work with!

Within the walls of ESBE Technology center, there is also an Innovations Manager named Henrik Hallberg, who plays a central role in developing both our products and our testing methods. Through close cooperation with Caroline and her team, it is ensured that the test environment and rigs are adapted to the latest and upcoming innovations. We asked Henrik what he sees as the greatest strength of the ESBE test center.

-    Colleagues come and go, but what remains is the ability and willingness to adapt to new and changing demands from customers and new applications. The test center's large investments in testing methods and equipment to meet the challenges of the future are incredibly exciting, says Henrik Hallberg.
What Henrik sees in his crystal ball regarding future innovations and ESBE products - we'll have to save that for another time πŸ˜‰
